The Not So Lonely Relfections
An ekphrasis poem based on the painting "Rain's Rustle" that I made a while back in my creative writing class. Enjoy!
The Not So Lonely Reflections
The duel lamps shine a light on the reflections in the fallen rain
Our reflections walk together
The bright colours in the beautiful trees relieve me of all my pain
I wish this would last forever
Our reflections walk together
Through the prismatic trees
Rain from the storm before
still shimmering in the enticing glow
They stand tall
Taller than us
Colourful and proud
Our reflections walk together
In the past, they may not have
Perhaps this is our first time meeting
Or maybe it’s the last time they do
As it might be a colourful goodbye
But right now
In this vivid scene
Petrichor and melancholy hanging heavily in the air
Our reflections walk together
Captured in colour forever
Although I don't really know
If you are lover friend or foe
Our lonely reflections walk together
In the reflected world below
